Saturday a day of giving

Saturday was a BUSY BUSY day for us and Bella! We had our friends Dave and Danielle stop by the RMH to bring supplies. We were not able to see them, but are very thankful they thought of the RMH. We had a gourmet Italian meal prepared by Florida Speech, Kristen's work. The food and "table bread service" was great! It was like I was at Fazolli's when they bring the bread sticks around to your table! It was nice to see some familiar faces to take our minds of things.

Yesterday afternoon we met with a Respiratory therapist who taught us how to use the apnea monitor. It was a bit overwhelming at first and intimidating. We did get to practice putting the electrodes on Bella, but the real fun began when we roomed in with her later that night. We got her all set up on the monitor ourselves and they wheeled her into our "room" which consisted of a bathroom, murphy bed, and a TV. Kristen fed her and she was asleep. Within the first 2 hours of being in the room with her the alarm went off twice!! Both times she came out of it on her own, but it scared the CRAP out of us! The nurse that's that's what we want Bella to do, is to come out of the episode on her own. It only beeped 3 times and that was it. It is LOUD, and we can't wait to see how Jupiter reacts (not really!) We honestly did not get sleep last night. She ate slept good until her last morning feed with us at about 6. Kristen fed her and she was asleep, as soon as Kristen put her down she would start to make noise..not crying just baby noises. We knew she wasn't content but we tried to stick to the nurses feeding schedule. I changed her, burped her and tried to soothe her...she went right for my boob! We asked to give her a bottle and she chugged it down. She still wasn't asleep and a little fussy. This is all in about an hour in a half. Finally Kriste said screw it, and breast fed her again. She was on for 5 minutes and FAST asleep! She just needed a little comfort from her Mommy's boobs! Once she was wheeled back into the nursery, we headed straight for the RMH this morning and SLEPT for almost 3 hours.

We have a new found respect for our parents, friends with kids, and anyone else who has had a kid! It's a little harder for us with the stress of the monitor on top of things, but I know we can get through it. The emotional stress is getting to us, but we know once we are home and settled we will be okay.
