USF game
UCF had the opportunity to have the storybook scenario. We have never beaten a ranked team (0-17) and we never have beaten USF. We could have beaten the number 5 team in the country and beat USF all at the same time.
Instead of it being the perfect scenario it became a total Knightmare for UCF and me.
Kristen was out of town and my boy Joe came up for the game and hung out with me this weekend.
We drove up in style; Joe rented a Chrysler 300 for the weekend and Gary, Joe and I headed out to meet up with Cortni, Tony, Ali and Rob in Tampa.
Due to the noon kick off and some Dale Mabry traffic we tailgated for about an hour and 45 mins. We made the best of our time. We played some 4 on 4, boy vs girl, flip cup- Guys won best out of 7.
Joe and I also saw a former fellow knight, Pat Nurse and he in turn introduced us to these girls who play this game- Drunken Dizzy Bat. I am never to say no to Dizzy bat. Now you may ask what is Drunken Dizzy Bat- You funnel a beer via a wiffle ball bat and then spin around 10 times (Dizzy bat) and then you swing the bat and try to hit the beer can you just funneled. Not easy and I basically went down for the count as soon as that 10th turn occurred.
Once we finished that exciting game (only one beer) we were off to meet with my friends- Brint, Maegan and Jason who are coming from the real South Florida (not the Tampa area).
I have never left a UCF football game early before this game. I was in total shock for most of the game. This game was painful to watch. I really felt like we were never in this game. It was close early on but you could tell on the field that USF was prepared and ready to hit us in the mouth several times.
I really don't know what there is to say about this game. I am disappointed in our teams effort and I was hoping to see some intensity and a better performance then the 2nd half meltdown vs ECU.
It was horrible to see me and other Knight fans just be demoralized and even worse seeing and actually leaving before the end of this game.
Of course it is hard to believe we are now half way done with our season. We are 3-3 and I have seen so many different versions of this team. I have no idea how this season will turn out and how the heck this team will recover from the beat down we have just received.
In the beginning of the season I just had bowl expectations. Then we played well vs NC State and then "almost" beat Texas. I had some thoughts that this was going to be special. We roll over Memphis and beat UL-Laf. We are 3-1 and looking like we have yet to play our best ball.
BAM! We overlook ECU and hand them the victory (5 turnovers in the 2nd half). With USF being the "rivalry" game- I expected us to be ready to run the ball and show the Bulls we ere for real. We the Bulls are for real and I have no idea what kind of team we have.
I just pray O'Leary and company can somehow regroup and refocus to play Tulsa at the Brighthouse next Saturday.
I know my friends and the rest of the KnightNation will need to regroup from this one. We need some good old Home Tailgating and some Zombie Nation and a win!
FYI: I will no longer be wearing white to away games (The past 2 weeks I have worn white for UCF away games = 2 UCF road loses).
Go Knights! We can do this- BELIEVE!
