Work Roadtrip Day 1

So many of you may know that I am off to Texas and then to Arkansas this week.
I figured I have not blogged in awhile so what better way to get back into the swing of things. I have some Random thoughts and restaurant reviews that I will post soon.

But lets talk Work Roadtrip. I have worked at the same company for over 4 years and I am finally on a roadtrip. I will visit the Dallas and Arkansas facilities.

Ok here goes:

- I flew American Airlines. I have not flown in awhile did not know that the baggage guys outside charge $2.00 a bag + tip.

- My flight was great. I got to finally use the new Ipod (have a feeling the ipod will be used a lot on this trip).

- I sat next to a nice woman from Thornton Park. She was traveling to Dallas for business. She recommended a site: www.mysteryguestinc.com - She was emphatic about not leaving out the inc. (guess it might be a Client 9 site).

- The landing on the flight was the best ever.

- DFW is a big airport. It is a big circle with 5 terminals. It is the 2nd largest airport. I took forever to get to the rental car area. When I got there the lady the lady that helped me was a nice British lady that looked like she was a character from Wallace and Gromit.

- So I get the nice basic car- A Chevy Cobalt. It is not bad - Should be interesting since the shocks squeak and its just me.

- I can tell you already my Tom Tom hates me. I saw a sign for the Texas Rangers stadium and said lets go see it before it gets dark. So I went around to it and ended up also seeing the new Dallas Cowboy's stadium being built. Looks awesome!

- Finally after my Tom Tom told me to get back on the motorway I was off to Snoop Dogs fav place- The Holiday Inn.

- It is a really nice place. - Big room, good Cookies, etc.

- I ask the girl there where to eat and she says Outback Steakhouse. I asked for a local joint and she says to me that she has lived here for 2 years and was not sure.

- So as many of you know if I go to a place that is new - I do not visit a chain restaurant. So I started asking people and every I met either was new to the area or told me about a chain we already have. I even asked a guy @ Home Depot and he tells me Don Pablo's is good. Don Pablo's closed in Orlando- how can that be good.
Not happy about it I decided to visit a chain that at least was not in Orlando. I visited Cheddars.

- At Cheddars - I ask these 2 guys walking out- what do you recommend- they say World Class Chicken.

- I ask the waiter what he recommends and he come back with this place is not as good as Chili's. I was like great. I asked the waiter about a place to go eat non chain for tomorrow night and he tells me I am not from around here. Not sure but heard of a great Mediterranean place. (WHAT!)

- So I order the world class chicken and a choc shake. It was not bad- pretty inexpensive.

- I figured since I have a fridge and I need water and some snacks. So I headed to Albertsons. Should have driven the extra distance to Krogers. The Albertson looked and felt just like in Orlando- Not that great. There I asked the kid of a place and he tells me of a good Chinese place.
- Is there no one that can tell me of a place that is local that serves Texas known food- Beef/Steak or Mexican?

- Well off to bed- Tomorrow I get to meet people I have spoken to for over 4 years and never met. night.

  1. If you are still in Arkansas/Texas, Ta Molly's is a good mexican restaurant. They have several around the Little Rock area. They are also in Texas.
