A UCF winning weekend!

Wow-  What a weekend for UCF!

Saturday:
By the time UCF football started its game vs UAB in AL on Saturday- we knew that if we won out, we could be playing for a CUSA Conference championship on Dec. 1st at home.  Marshall a team we dismantled during Homecoming a week ago came to play and beat up ECU (the team we had on the ropes at the half and choked).  Because of that loss for ECU-  we would take over 1st place.  Kevin Smith and the O-Line was IMPRESSIVE in this game-  As a team we rushed for over 400yds vs the Blazer and 24K was Golden-  He rushed for 320 yds and 4 TDs. Those are some insane numbers. Those numbers got 24K a College Football Live Helmet Sticker!

I said it Saturday night and I'll say it again- Kevin Smith is the best player we have ever had at UCF.  Daunte was awesome and made us a blip on the college map but 24K has taken that blip and is just destroying the state of Florida rushing records and really making a national name for himself and UCF.  If he stays he could break almost every single rushing record in the state (don't hold me on that one). Heck if he gets 300 yds in the next 2 games he could become the 1st RB in the state of FL to rush for 2,000 yards in a season.  Needless to say 24k and the O-Line just carried the team and forced us to victory on Saturday vs UAB.

To think we still have 2 football games to go and possibly 2 more depending on how we do in our next 2 games.

I try not to think about it and try to just focus on the next team- SMU.  They are not good record wise- but can play ball and do things we do not cover well- long ball and running QBs.
We can talk more about that later this week.

Sunday:
Kristen and I went to the 1st regular season UCF basketball game in The Dungeon Part Deaux on Sunday.  We were playing a good Nevada basketball team that had won 29 game the year before and have 2 NBA prospects on the roster.  What Nevada did not have was our loud home crowd and Kirk as their coach.  For the shortcomings we may have in size and for how we played vs D2 schools in exhibition basketball games- we came to play on Sunday.  I had the same feeling I had when we opened the new football stadium.  Even though I had been in this arena a few times already before the season started.  I felt like I was not there-  it is a totally different experience then being in the Garage we played in that seated 5K fans.

This is an NBA style arena with suites and jumbotrons and it is just night and day to what we played in for years.  What a great building.  The noise in that place is awesome as well.  I cannot wait to fill this place up and have the place really rocking.

Ok so I do not know how we did it vs two 7 footers but we out hustled and out played them (Kirk style) and we pulled out a great win in the new arena.  Kristen had a great time and I hope it is one of her many games she attends with me this basketball season.  I think the Jerks have a few kinks to figure out since we are farther away from the opposing team and I think the student section is just awesome.  I love it.  What great energy better then in the days when it was 20 Jerks jumping up and down and a half empty arena.

I expect to experience these types of weekend many more times and I don't think it will ever get old.

Go Knights!
