Why are Americans so unoriginal

So I am watching American Idol tonight and as I am watching it, I began to realize that there are some many shows on TV that were 1st done in England and then remade for the US.

Are we as Americans so unoriginal? Can we not come up with a great TV show?

Let me give you an idea of some of the shows that have been remade: American Idol, The Office, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Dancing with the Stars, Trading Spaces, Big Brother to name a few.

These are some of the top tv shows and they are all from England. Don't get me wrong I am glad that The Office is in the US and 40 million watch American Idol every week. But come on lets get original!
